Our mill - Montemurlo (PO) - Italy

Lanificio Giannetti Piero srl has been operating since 1962.

It is currently managed by the third generation inheriting a great wool tradition for the production of fine and very fine worsted wool for men (trousers and outerwear).

The structure is almost vertical, even if the production is based more on quality than quantity and takes place by adopting an artisan conception. The strength of the wool mill is undoubtedly the great versatility made available to the customer who, making use of the technical staff, can design and enrich his own collection by developing personal ideas in complete autonomy. Lately, the finest wools and blends have been joined by more modern and high-performance productions such as cottons, linens and blends designed to satisfy a younger and heterogeneous clientele. The core business is however the men's market of medium-high extraction.

The history of Lanificio Giannetti began in 1936, when Filiberto Giannetti founded the first company

in partnership with two friends from Prato, "Giameca", specialized in the production of fabrics for men's clothing, with fine fibers such as wool, silk, cashmere, which lead to the creation of a classic and tasteful product, allowing the company to stand out in the own market.

Giameca was dissolved many years later, when Filiberto decided to stand on his own feet alone, ensuring a future for his sons Piero and Paolo and for his name, founding the Lanificio Giannetti Filiberto, which would later become Lanificio Giannetti Piero in 1964.

The experience and love for the fabric had been part of him since he was a boy: he was passionate about every phase of its construction, which is why he brought his children to the company from an early age to savor that fantastic world.

Paolo and Piero

join the company while still young, but aware that they have a great responsibility: that of continuing to cultivate the love for the textile world in memory of their father, who unfortunately passed away very young, to then pass it on to future generations. They continue the tradition of the production of men's suit fabric, specializing in the use of pure virgin wool (so much so as to obtain the IWS pure virgin wool certification and keep it for over fifty years), and then also range to other noble and natural fibers such as linen, silk, which then leads them subsequently to start collaborating also with the clergy, for which they produce precious fabrics that will also be used by the Pope.

The main market, besides Italy, is the United States, which greatly appreciate the beautiful wool flannels produced by the Lanificio.

However, after the tragic fall of the Towers, Paolo, Piero and their sons, who in the meantime have joined the company, have to face a change of course, since obviously the collaboration with the United States suffers a disastrous decline, following the crisis brought about by the tragic event of the 2001.

Therefore, one begins to look around, to change the way of conceiving and seeing the product, to look beyond, trying to understand what the men's market needed and where it was moving.

And it is here that the first "fashion" collections begin to be conceived, which in addition to the traditional wool flannel open the door to new, fresher and more youthful fibers, such as linen, tencel, hemp, viscose.

A long-term vision which, year after year, has led Lanificio Giannetti Piero to position itself where it is now, in the medium-high and high-end men's fashion sector, collaborating with both luxury and sports brands and starting to emerge in those which are still the company's reference markets: France, England, Germany, Spain, Korea, Japan and the United States and, of course, Italy.
